KiwiCasinoRank covers money, risk and New Zealand law. Get that wrong and a reader loses real money, so this page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to and how to hold us to them.
How scores are set
Scores come from a benchmark protocol that is published in full and applied identically to every profile — see the review methodology.
Editorial principles
One method for every profile
Every profile is scored with the same published protocol, in the same order, with the same weights. Weights are never adjusted to move a profile up or down a list.
Weaknesses are published too
Every review lists what a profile does badly next to what it does well, with the evidence for both. A high score never hides a weak area.
Claims are evidence-backed or they are cut
Licence details are checked on the regulator’s own public register, never taken from a footer badge. Where we cannot verify something, we either publish the uncertainty or leave the claim out.
A strict, standardized process
Our reviews are written and verified by our Lead Casino Analyst and Fact-Checker using a strict, standardized methodology.
Nothing that frames gambling as income
We do not publish systems, "guaranteed" strategies, loss-chasing advice or language that treats gambling as a way to make money. Every page carries an age restriction and a route to free help.
Our editorial process
KiwiCasinoRank is a one-person operation. Every casino review and guide is written by Emma Harper, our Lead iGaming Auditor, who applies the same published scoring model to each profile. Her name is the byline on each page and the author in its structured data.
No second person fact-checks the content. Instead, every page is checked against the sourcing rules below before it is published, and pages show this as Verified against KiwiCasinoRank's editorial standards. Questions, corrections and credential requests reach us at [email protected].
Sourcing and fact-checking
- Law and regulation is sourced from the legislation itself and from the Department of Internal Affairs. Where a rule is changing, we say so and point to the regulator rather than stating a moving position as settled fact.
- Licences are confirmed on the issuing regulator’s public register, matched by company name and licence number.
- Operator terms — wagering, maximum bets, cash-out caps, withdrawal limits — are read from the operator’s own terms on a dated check, because they change without notice.
- Payout and support parameters are recorded as dated benchmark specifications. We publish the parameter and its source, never an unsourced average.
- Game maths (RTP, house edge, weighting) is taken from each game’s published information panel, since the same title can ship at different RTP settings at different operators.
- We do not cite other casino review sites as sources, and we do not republish operator marketing copy as findings.
How often pages are updated
| What | Update cadence |
|---|---|
| Bonus terms, wagering and limits | Checked at every review update and whenever a reader reports a change. |
| Payout speed and payment methods | Re-benchmarked on each full review cycle, and immediately when a reader reports a change. |
| Licence and regulator status | Re-verified on the regulator’s register at each full review cycle. |
| Regulatory and legal guides | Reviewed at least annually, and out of cycle whenever New Zealand law or the Department of Internal Affairs’ published position changes. |
| Maths and fairness explainers | Reviewed annually. The underlying arithmetic does not change, so edits are usually clarity, not correction. |
Every review and guide shows the date it was last updated. If a date looks stale, treat the page as stale and tell us — that is a reporting failure on our side, not a detail to work around.
Corrections
Email [email protected] with the page and what is wrong. Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed, and material corrections are noted on the page with a new update date. We correct on our own initiative too.
What we will not publish
- Fabricated test results, invented licences, or statistics we cannot source.
- Invented reviewers, fake photographs or borrowed credentials.
- Content targeting under-age readers, or anyone who has told us they have self-excluded.
- "Winning systems", loss-chasing advice, or any framing of gambling as investment or income.
- Operators we would not be comfortable explaining to a reader who lost money there.
